WITNESSING TO MORMONS
I've just come
across some material that I prepared some time ago. I believe it
has merit.
In witnessing I take
the example given in Acts 17:28 where Paul mentioned what other had
said, therefore, I would call attention to what Mormons say in their
own book, the Book of Mormon. I can refute Mormonism
with its own book.
May I digress at
this point to say that I am not a newcomer to the subject!
I moved to Utah 51
years ago March 25, 2002. For approximately seven years I
pastored new churches and missions in Utah. For 17 years I had a
daily radio broadcast over Utah radio stations. For another
eight years I presented regular weekly radio programs over Utah
stations.
In 1957, I traveled
6,000 miles, 23 days, with a Brigham Young University class visiting
practically every point of historic interest to Mormonism, along
with a BYU professor and 34 other students.
I have made every
effort at my disposal to become as knowledgeable on Mormonism as
possible.
I spent forty-five
minutes with Joseph Fielding Smith, Jr., the LDS church historian,
author of 60 hard back books, and next in line to become their
prophet. Despite my best behavior he became very angry when
I asked him about something's his father had written during the early
years of the 20th century.
After this
man became their prophet, I ate in the home of the man who took
his place as Church Historian. Author of several large books,
his mother-in-law was a member of the church where I was
preaching a two week revival. Seventeen years later I walked
into his office in the church headquarters in Salt Lake City and he
called me by my name. Twenty years later I saw him again and he
still remembered me.
During my 17 years
there I had a booth at the Utah State Fair for 10 years.
During those years I
accumulated a library of 2,500 books on Mormonism. I have
written 10 books, several of which have been printed from five to ten
times. Several printings have been five to 10,000 copies.
For 11 1/2 years my wife and I traveled up to 322 days of the year
speaking in 25 states that year. I have spoken in 44 states
including Alaska and Hawaii, with as many as 377 presentation during
that year.
Through the years I
have spoken on Mormonism more than 7,000 times. I have spoken in
more than 100 Bible schools, colleges and seminaries including several
appearances in Chapel in some of the largest and most prestigious
schools in the land and in many of the largest churches in Dallas,
Houston, Oklahoma City, Jackson, Atlanta, Birmingham, etc.
I have spoken in
chapel at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Midwestern,
Golden Gate, First Southern in Del City, Oklahoma, FBC Houston, Texas,
and even for a week at Bob Jones University and about 100 other Bible
schools, Bible schools and Seminaries.
Since 1954, I have
published tabloids a good portion of the time; and for awhile I mailed
up to 80,000 papers a month.
Even today, I am
active practically every day of the week, still writing, publishing,
speaking, etc.
I must warn you, the
Bible says, "If there come any unto you, and bring not this
doctrine, receive him not into your house neither bid him God speed;
For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds."
(2nd John 10-11)
I don't care
how long you've been preaching, or how educated or experienced you
are, it is wise that you heed those two verses,
Baptist pastors have
become Mormons!
Don't play
with your faith! Heed God's word! Be prepared!
